Installation Instructions using SecureMountTM anchors

  1. Slide the decorative cover away from the hub end to expose the SecureMount™ mounting flange. Do not remove protective plastic from decorative cover until indicated later in these instructions.
  2. Hold bar in desired position on wall and outline both flanges.
  3. Place the mounting plate against the outline you made on the wall.
  4. Mark the center hole.
  5. Use a stud finder to determine if either flange of the grab bar will be installed on a stud.
  6. If the flange is against a hollow wall, drill a 1¼” hole centered on the hole you marked in the wall.
  7. Insert the SecureMountTM plastic guide sleeve into the hole until its collar is flush to the wall.
  8. Make sure the “Up” indicator is facing up (in the 12 o’clock position) regardless of what direction (horizontal, vertical or diagonal) the bar will be installed.
  9. Snap the attached pull tab onto the SecureMountTM anchor.
  10. Insert the assembly into the hole, making sure to keep the “Up” indicator in place, facing up.
  11. While holding the plastic guide sleeve in place, pull the pull tab towards you until you feel the anchor is snug against the inside of the wall.
  12. Remove the pull tab by lifting it up and pulling it towards you.
  13. Slide the steel washer and then the rubber washer onto the anchor screw.
  14. Double check that the guide is still in the 12 o’clock position.
  15. Thread the screw through the center of the mounting plate and align the center of the mounting plate on the center of the hole in the wall.
  16. Make sure the arrows and the open end of the horseshoe markings on the mounting plate are facing towards the opposing flange.
  17. Tighten the screw and washer through the center of the mounting plate onto the anchor.
  18. If the mounting plate and the bar flange don’t line up perfectly, simply loosen the center screw and realign the mounting plate. Then retighten the center screw.
  19. Use three of the six small screws for each end of the grab bar, making sure to use a washer with each screw.
  20. Tighten all 3 screws onto each side of the grab bar.
  21. Repeat the process for the second hole.
  22. Slide the decorative cover over the SecureMount™ mounting flange, rotating to find the correct fit before snapping into place.
  23. Slide decorative covers over SecureMount™ mounting flanges.

Installation instructions – into wall studs

  1. Slide the decorative cover away from the hub end to expose the SecureMount™ mounting flange. Do not remove protective plastic from decorative cover until indicated later in these instructions.
  2. Locate the studs behind the wall by using a stud sensor or other stud locating method. Studs are usually 16 in. apart; locate the center of each stud.
  3. Please note that screws MUST be mounted into a wood stud for secure installation.
  4. Moving aside the decorative cover as needed, mark three of the mounting locations on each of the two grab bar flanges with a pencil. Decide whether you would like to position your grab bar horizontally, vertically or at an angle, remembering that BOTH ends of the grab bar MUST be positioned over a wood stud.
  5. Moving the decorative cover as far away from the marked slots as possible, drill a hole into the marks, through the slots.  Position the drill at a slight angle in order to get around the grab bar and decorative cover, making sure to drill into the wood stud.  If desired, apply silicone caulk to the back of the decorative cover to guard against water penetration.
  6. Make sure the arrows and the open end of the horseshoe markings on the mounting plate are facing towards the opposing flange.
  7. To mount the grab bar, reposition one end of the grab bar SecureMount™ mounting flange over the marked holes.
  8. Thread a washer onto each screw. Using the screwdriver, screw the wood screws with washers into the SecureMount™ mounting flange at one end of the grab bar. Then screw the wood screws with washers into the mounting flange at the other end of the grab bar.
  9. Tighten the screws until secure.
  10. Slide the decorative cover over the SecureMount™ mounting flange, rotating to find the correct fit before snapping into place.
  11. Slide decorative covers over SecureMount™ mounting flanges.
